How to Deal with Criminal Traffic Violations

At Hochman & Goldin PA, we can assist you in handling any Criminal Traffic Violations you may have been charged with. These cases include Driving While License Suspended (DWLS), Reckless Driving, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Hit and Run).

There are two ways you can be charged with DWLS: Unknowingly and Knowingly. Unknowingly is a civil infraction that carries 3 points against your license if convicted. A first offense Reckless Driving conviction is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $500. If the reckless driving caused property damage, the penalty is then increased to a first degree misdemeanor with a penalty of up to 12 months in jail and a $1000 fine. If you incur a Reckless Driving conviction a second or more times, or cause serious bodily injury, death, or if under the influence, the penalties become much more severe. Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Hit and Run) is a criminal charge which may be either a misdemeanor or felony, depending on the extent of damages/injuries as a result of the accident. For these cases, we are able to offer you a free consultation and help you determine the right course of action.

For a very convenient fee of $69, we can defend a ticket for DWLS. For this easy price, our qualified Miami Traffic Ticket Lawyers will handle your case efficiently, attend all courtroom appearances for you, and work diligently to get your case dismissed. Knowingly DWLS is a more serious charge, that is typically a Misdemeanor but can be a Felony in some cases, possibly resulting in serious consequences on the status of your driver license and record. Our Criminal Traffic Violation Lawyers do handle these cases so contact us that we may discuss your case with you.

Got a Ticket form a Traffic Camera? What Should You Do Next

Have you received a traffic camera ticket? Red light cameras have become widespread in Miami since the “Mark Wandell Traffic Safety Act” became effective July 1, 2010. This law allows for cities to use cameras to take still photos and video of cars alleged to have been going through an intersection after the traffic signal has changed to red. Thousands of drivers have been ticketed for allegedly running a red light, but – believe it or not – many of these citations have been issued wrongfully or even illegally. There may be a defense to your citation, depending on the scenario in which you received the ticket.

Most Florida residents don’t realize that the state has a two-tier system for these violations, with those receiving a “Notice of Violation” having the potential to minimize or even clear their infraction. If you have already received a traffic citation, don’t plead guilty and put a conviction on your record by paying the hefty $277 fine.
