Roadwork to begin on Krome Avenue Widening

Krome Avenue, Biscayne and Caribbean boulevards, and Interstate 95 will have renovations, causing the traffic flow to change and lanes to close. The first phase of the roadwork at West Miami-Dade which will take two years to complete and cost $17.8 million, stretches from Tamiami Trail north to Okeechobee Road

A major change has taken place in the traffic pattern of southbound I-95, at the moment the entrance to the southbound express lanes has been moved from just south of Ives Dairy Road. Also, drivers entering I-95 from Miami Gardens Drive will now have to skip the flyover and enter the express lanes at Northwest 151st Street.

Due to all the roadwork lane closures will take place at multiple times. In South Miami-Dade, one lane in each direction will be closed on Caribbean Boulevard at the turnpike interchange through Thursday from 10 p.m to 5 p.m. Also, Krome Avenue is well known for its many fatal head-on collisions, and the changes may help to prevent this in the future.
