Road Closures This Week

miamiRoadsThanksgiving has come and gone, which means the South Florida roadways are about to become congested again with ongoing roadwork, closures, and improvements.  The Homestead Extension on the Turnpike, Interstate 95 (I-95), State Road 826, and Hialeah’s Red Road are all under some form of construction so you might want to plan ahead if you intend to travel on these roads.

Starting this Thursday between 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. at Northwest 25th Street in Doral, all southbound lanes on State Road 826 will be closed and they may remain closed into Friday.  Contractors will be working on a viaduct bridge over the expressway intended for trucks ferrying cargo from Miami International Airport to Doral’s warehouse hub.

Drainage and road reconstruction work are responsible for the closure of lanes on West 68th Street at Northwest 57th Avenue/West 4th Avenue/Red Road in Hialeah, and they will remain closed at all hours for the next two weeks.

Over on the Turnpike, there is a possibility that a pair or just one of the north or southbound lanes will be closed on a nightly basis at various locations between Southwest 216th Street and Eureka Drive/Southwest 184th Street.  These lanes will be closed between the hours of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. until Thursday.

Finally, the ramp to westbound 826 and the Turnpike will be closed on I-95 until Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. as well as on Friday and Saturday between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m.
