New Traffic Pattern on The Dolphin Expressway

There is a new multimillion dollar project starting on the Dolphin Expressway (SR836) forcing more than 400,000 drivers everyday that want to get form West Flagler Street and NW 87th Avenue to take a different exit for the next five months.

The 72nd Avenue exit has the same exit on the right lane for the 72nd, West Flagler Street, and NW 87th Avenue; but temporary to access the 87th and West Flagler,  the traffic will have to take the  ramp on the left.

This $560-million project, called the 826-836 project near Miami International Airport, includes the demolition of a bridge, and is going to link the Dolphin Expressway with the Palmetto Expressway (SR826).

Oscar Gonzalez, a project spokesman, explained “in order to try to mitigate the confusion, we are going to have messages posted on the overhead electronic message boards. After you pass 57th Avenue, you should be paying close attention to both the electronic message boards.” Major changes are expected again in September and October, and the project is slated for completion early 2016.
