Stay Safe on New Year’s Eve with the Miami Beach Trolley

uberWill you be celebrating the arrival of 2018 and bidding goodbye to 2017 in Miami Beach? You may want to take advantage of a perk the city is offering to prevent drunk driving as well as easing the city’s traffic woes during holiday celebrations.

If you have yet to take advantage of it, Miami Beach is extending its complimentary trolley service by remaining in operation until 2 am on New Year’s Eve. While it’s frequently used by local Miami Beach residents as a free and easy way to get around, the trolley is always open—and free—to anyone visiting the island.

For those planning on driving to the popular South Beach area, it’s worth keeping in mind that Ocean Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic between 5th to 14th Street beginning at 7 am on Saturday, December 30 until 9 am New Year’s Day. These streets are where you’ll be able to get a glimpse of the planned fireworks display set to go off at the stroke of midnight.

As always, for those planning on drinking, make sure to bring along a sober driver or use a ridesharing service like Lyft or Uber to get home. The Tow-to-Go program by AAA is another option.

Happy 2018!
