Study May Confirm Traffic Ticket Beliefs

ticketTrafficHave you ever wondered if there is any truth to the belief that law enforcement officers are likelier to issue a traffic ticket at certain times of the day or certain days of the week? The attorney ratings and information company Avvo recently launched a similar study, revealing useful information that many may have already suspected.

According to the study, police have a greater likelihood of issuing a traffic ticket near the end of the month and the first day of the month. The majority of traffic violations occur during the morning hours beginning from 7 am until 9 am. Officers are also less likely to issue a ticket close to the end of the week. About a quarter of those tickets are issued due to speeding in addition to careless driving (eleven percent) and license, registration, or tag-related violations (a fifth).

Based on these numbers, it appears police do indeed increase the number of tickets they issue when the end of the month approaches. As for the surge during the morning, it is possible it may be due to rush hour where drivers may decide to pull an illegal maneuver to try and beat traffic.
